CARPE DIEM (/ˌkärpā ˈdēˌem/) - used to urge someone to make the most of the present time
“And that’s a really neat image to show exactly what she was up against in the big scheme of that storyline, in the big scheme of that kind of part of Castle. But it was fun! [Laughs] [The fight coordinator] really wanted Beckett to be a non-issue for that guy. So many times you see her as a tough, motivated action person, and she’s actually owning the space. And in that fight, she’s completely incapable against that man, and I think that’s true to form. She’s gonna fight, she’s gonna give it everything she’s got, she’ll risk her life, but she’s incapable, really, against the forces that she’s facing in that case. And I think that was a really nice showcase for that point.”
“Rain represents cleansing, spiritual revelation and the opportunity for growth. Being in the rain when one is sad or pensive can help clear one’s mind and help sorrows (symbolically) be washed away. This catharsis occurs often because firstly, you feel a literal welcoming cooling on your body. Secondly, you feel a metaphorical washing away of problems. And thirdly, you get the feeling of hitting rock bottom, which can inspire people to rise up again and move on to the next chapter in his/her life.”
When Kate was sitting on the swings, she was being cleansed of her old self. Before she went out in the rain, she was focused on the consequences of losing herself in her mom’s case yet again, her recent resignation, and the fact that she may have permanently severed ties with the truly most important person in her life. But after sitting on the swings for God knows how long, she grew and was cleansed from her old self, thus coming to a revelation. She wanted to live. She wanted to be happy. She no longer wanted to be defined by her mom’s case. She wanted to be Kate. Not Detective Beckett, just Kate. She wanted to learn to live again like she used to 13 years ago, but this time she wanted to do it with Castle. So when she got up from the swings, she went to the one person that could help her live happily again.
“Castle” 4x23 ‘Always’ | “the unforgettable season finale”
When the murder of an Army veteran puts Beckett on the trail of the man who shot her, Castle must decide how much he’s willing to sacrifice to keep her safe. As secrets are revealed and feelings are put on the table, the lives of the detectives at the 12th Precinct may never be the same.
Can we just talk about this moment? Her bullet wound haunted her. It haunted them. It still does. It always will. It’s a reminder of what happened on that terrible day, what they could have lost, what they’ve overcome. But in that moment, he kissed it and made it better. He made it all better, just like he always does and always will because like Alexis said,“There are some people who are so much a part of us, they’ll be with us no matter what. They are our solid ground, our north star, and the small clear voices in our hearts that will be with us…always.”
“There are some people who are so much a part of us, they’ll be with us no matter what. They are our solid ground, our north star, and the small clear voices in our hearts that will be with us…always.”
She said his name five times. Screamed his name five times. She heard his voice telling her to hang on and to fight. And even though his voice was merely a figment of her imagination, it was the reason she kept fighting, to hang on, to live. He is her rock. She was so sure that he’d find her and save her yet again, only this time he didn’t. When Ryan lifted her up and she saw that Castle wasn’t there, that truly scared that absolute crap out of her. He wasn’t there. She ruined it because she was blinded by her own determination. After more than three years of partnership, this was the first time he wasn’t truly by her side. She was so close this time…so close to losing it all, to losing her chance with him, and she knew she could never let that happen again.
is it just me, or in the 4th GIF, is it almost as if Esposito is smirking like he just saw them holding hands, yet wisely chose not to mention it?
I think it’s really interesting how in “Rise” Beckett was just getting settled back into the precinct. At that point in time, she didn’t care that she had just barely escaped death one more time. All she wanted to do was catch her sniper and her mother’s killer, with or without Castle right at her side. She didn’t even care if she died in the process of it all. Now, in “Always,” she’s clearing her things and leaving the precinct because she’s willing to give up solving her mom’s murder and getting revenge for her shooting. She wants to live. The character progression is astounding. She’s closing this chapter in her life to start a new one…with Castle. Because that’s what all the great love stories are about, right? Beating the odds.
